Sukhothai – Bantak Houses (109 km): 1.37 hr

 

Upon arrival at Sukhothai Airport, be met and transferred to discover the ancient royal city of Sukhothai.

(Note: Suggested morning PG flight from Bangkok arriving at Sukhothai Airport at 08:20.)

Explore the first ancient capital of Siam, known as Sukhothai, meaning a dawn of Happiness. A wonderful trip through the historical park, seeing the old royal palaces and temple ruins while learning about the history with a mix of local life from the past. The trip can be done on foot or electric tuk tuk. Biking is also possible.

After sightseeing, drive onwards to Tak province, one of Thailand’s lesser known areas in the Northwest, and head north of the province to this small district called Bantak. This area is unveiled through local villages, natural attractions, local temples, and countryside.

Bantak Houses – Bhumibol Dam (31.2 km): 42 min

OPTIONAL: Half Day the Bhumibol Dam

This morning, be taken for a half day tour to discover the Bhumibol Dam. Pass through beautiful lush countryside and mountains to the crest of the dam. Following the name of King Rama IX, Bhumibol Dam is the largest hydro dam as well as the first multi-purpose dam in Thailand. Be wowed with how enormous the dam is and learn about the history of the dam. Here, take a longtail boat to the nearest island and climb up to the top for a breathtaking view of the river. Following this morning’s visit, return to the resort with a brief stop at Wat Phra Borommathat in where a copy of a Burmese buddha statue is housed for locals to worship and pray.

OPTIONAL: Kayaking Trip

Be taken upstream for about 15 km by car and embark on a relaxing kayaking trip down the river and back to Bantak House after a few hours.

  • Transfer to the starting point without a guide. There will be no kayaking guide escort on the trip.

  • The trip is subject to be cancelled due to the water levels in the river.

OPTIONAL: Full day Lan Sang and Taksin National Park

These beautiful national park is about 45 min drive south from the Bantak Houses. Here, explore beautiful nature on foot for about an hour to the well-known Lan Sang waterfall and one of the largest living trees in Thailand.

OPTIONAL: Full Day Mae Sot Border Town

After breakfast, drive west for about 2.5 hours to Mae Sot, the border town between Thailand and Myanmar. This is a fantastic trip on one of the most scenic routes in Thailand. Arrive at the Rim Moei border market located right at the border. Here, browse through a wide range of local produce, handicrafts, and interesting souvenirs from both Thailand and Myanmar. Get the chance to practice bargaining skills to get the best deals from local vendors. The whole morning is spent at the market and shop for some souvenirs to bring home.

Lunch is served at a local jungle restaurant. After lunch, transfer back to Bantak district.

After breakfast, check out and transfer onwards to the next destination. Optional transfer up to Chiang Mai or Sukhothai Airport for the flight (driver only).
